This one will give you a real energy boost to help you get through the day!
This mix to me really is the basic, not only because it contains some of the basic detox ingredients but also because the taste is just delicious.
Ingredients needed: Apples, Carrots, Ginger, Lemon
Material needed: juice extractor
– INGREDIENTS –
- 4/5 Apples – as they say, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away!”. Rich in antioxidants, flavanoids, dietary fiber, vitamin C, and low in calories!
Depending on how sweet you would like your juice to be, i recommend choosing sweeter apples such as Pink Ladies, Galas, Green Apples…
- A dozen Carrots – these orange beauties provide many different health benefits; vitamins A, C, D, E, K (…), magnesium, potassium, calcium and beta-carotene which contribute to healthy skin, vision and digestion!
- Thumbnail sized piece of Ginger – this strange looking spice has long been popular and used for its medicinal properties, especially for stomach and digestive problems. Relieves nausea, loss of appetite, morning sickness, gas, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) amongst many others. The list is long!
(@Ladies: did you know that it is also
commonly used to reduce the pain of menstrual cramps?)
- 1 Lemon – last but not least, the lemon. You will really need and appreciate this one in your juice as not only will it add that bit of peps to your drink but it will also tame that spicey ginger you will be adding. Lemons contain vitamin C, flavanoids, calcium, iron, potassium etc.!
– HOW TO DO IT –
You must simply pass the fruit and veg through the extractor and let it do all the work for you!
For some devices, chopping the fruit/veg beforehand isn’t necessary as it’s powerful enough to grind it for you. I give them a quick wash under the tap and chop them down anyway.
–> The lemon however will need to be squeezed; too soft and liquid for the extractor.
–> Ginger is spicy and you only need a little to be able to taste it so dose it according to your preferences.
–> Throw in a couple of ice cubes to keep it nice and fresh!
Don’t hesitate to post your thoughts and your favourite juices! 🙂
